Adjust image DPI/PPI for print or web use
DPI (Dots Per Inch) and PPI (Pixels Per Inch) are measurements that determine how an image will be printed. While the terms are often used interchangeably, DPI technically refers to printer resolution while PPI refers to digital image resolution. Both determine the physical size and quality of a printed image.
Change DPI when preparing images for printing to meet printer specifications, converting web images for print use, or preparing photos for professional publication. Higher DPI produces better print quality but doesn't change how the image looks on screen.
Changing DPI metadata doesn't actually change the image quality or add detail. It only changes how large the image will print. To truly increase print quality, you need to start with a high-resolution image. This tool adjusts the DPI setting in the image file metadata.
